As we approach the start of GCSEs, we’d like to remind students about the strict protocols for using technology – specifically mobile phones – during exams. Mobile phones are not allowed into the exam hall, and all phones must be turned off and in students bags before the start of the exam. If a student is found to have their phone during their exams, this can lead to serious consequences. So please do not take the risk – put your phones in your bags!
Further, as technology, AI and access to information online is continuously advancing, please can all students, parents/carers be aware that there are serious consequences for you (or your child’s) GCSE results, if the below actions take place:
- Buy, ask for or share exam or assessment content
- Pass on rumours of what’s in exams or assessments
- Share your work
- Work with others so that your assessment is not independent work
This can result in:
- A written warning
- Loss of marks
- Disqualification from a part or all of your exam qualifications
- A ban on future exams and assessments for a number of year
Don’t take the risk Year 11!
Similarly, in recent years, scammers have been caught selling fake GCSE exam papers, please do not be caught out by this. GCSE exams will never be available to purchase before an exam. Students can practice pass papers at any time, by requesting these from the school Library at lunchtime – this is one of the best ways you can prepare.
If you have any concerns, queries or worries about any of this information, activity on social media regarding GCSEs or about your exam preparations, please speak to your teachers, or a trusted adult in school.
