Learning Maps Foundation          Learning Maps Higher

A Learning Map outlines what students in each year group will learn in their subject through a chronological list of topics, knowledge and skills taught in each term.

Homework

Homework is a vital part of the Little Lever curriculum.  Homework will be used as preparation or as a follow up to low stakes quizzes in lessons. Homework will focus on the essential knowledge students need to support their progress through the curriculum in each subject area.  Low stakes quizzes will revisit the essential knowledge, technical vocabulary and skills students need to be able to understand and articulate their ideas for topics they will be studying.

In this section you will find resources that will help students prepare or follow up from a low stakes quiz.

In mathematics lessons students will complete a low stakes quiz every week.  This will test students knowledge and understanding of parts of the curriculum that they have previously been taught.

Students will then be set personalised homework on the topics they need to improve from their low stakes quiz.

All homework tasks are completed online via Hegarty Maths (link).  Hegarty Maths allows students to watch video clips to remind them and model what to do.  Hegarty Maths will then set a series of questions for students to answer so they can deliberately practice and improve their ares of weakness from the low stakes quiz.  Students answers are marked instantly and feedback is given to support further improvement.

Students should aim to get at least 90% of the questions correct.

Every student will have their own login and password to access Hegarty Maths.

Step Assessments

Step Assessments are an outline of when students are tested during each term and what area of learning students will be assessed on.
