Years 7 and 8 English, Maths and Science Exams

CJP 2914

The school would like to remind parents and carers of the upcoming examinations in English, maths and science which students in Year 7 and Year 8 will be taking on the week commencing Monday 19th June.

Students will sit a specially designed one-hour exam in each of these subjects over the course of three days during that week.

English – Monday 19th June (Year 7: 9am, Year 8: 11.15am)

Maths – Tuesday 20th June (Year 7: 9am, Year 8: 11.15am)

Science – Wednesday 21st June (Year 7: 9am, Year 8: 11.15am)

The exams will be conducted in the same manner as GCSE exams, with external invigilators overseeing the exam in the school’s formal exam bases. We expect every child to arrive to their exam fully equipped with black pens, pencil, ruler, rubber and calculator where appropriate. Any other specialist equipment will be provided by the school.

Students must follow the exam rules and regulations set out by the examining body; no mobile phones or other internet capable devices are allowed, no paper which may be interpreted as revision material may be brought into the exam room and no talking or communication of any form is allowed.

The results of the exams will be issued to students in the final week of the term. The school will also post home copies of the results to all parents and carers in Year 7. For students in Year 8, results will be presented at the Year 8 Graduation Evening on Tuesday 18th July (details of which are outlined in the 'Year 8 Graduation Evening' news item).

Students will be provided with exam masterclasses in their lessons leading up to the exam. We ask that your child fully revises at home, particularly focusing on any key areas they are not as confident on.

Please contact the school if you have any queries or wish to discuss any aspect of the exams.
