Year 11 Careers Fair

On Thursday 15th September all our Year 11 students participated in a Careers Fair event held in school aimed at providing first hand information, advice and guidance from a wide range of post-16 providers. Representatives from Bolton, Bolton 6th Form, Bury, Holy Cross, Myerscough, Runshaw and Wigan and Leigh Colleges were on hand to talk through BTEC, A-Level and vocational courses they offer.

The school also welcomed apprenticeship providers Alliance Learning, Babington and The Skills Company. The Armed Services Army and RAF, NHS and National Citizen Service (Bolton Lads and Girls Club) were also present to offer alternative careers and education routes.

The Careers Fair ran in the afternoon until the evening allowing parents and carers the opportunity to come along and learn for themselves about what is on offer.

Students learnt so much about courses, opportunities and qualification requirements for their post-16 aspirations. Feedback from our Year 11 was extremely positive, “This helped me know what is available and narrow down my options”. Parents, too, were very complementary, ” The event helped me so much. Found it very useful. Lots of information.”

Feedback from the providers was excellent as well, “Little Lever has a great set of students who asked very mature questions.”

This event is one of many opportunities, coordinated by Mr Welch, which the school is providing to our students, as a part of our Gold Award winning CEIAG (Careers Education Information Advice and Guidance)
