This week the school hosted the North West region first round of the MACE debating competition open to all schools. Little Lever's Debate Club team competed against debate teams from Bolton School Lads and Girls Division, Bedford School in Leigh, Windermere School and KGS in Manchester.

Our girls' performance was incredible: as always they set the competition alight with their passion, their wit, and their boisterous rhetoric. Although there was no trophy this time, they were competing against Year 11s, Year 12s, and Year 13s from those schools, they more than held their own.

It was also lovely to see so many of our staff there supporting the team, who were absolutely thrilled to have such a large audience. A teacher from another school mentioned that they had never seen so many teachers watching from another school, and it was one of those evenings that made Little Lever feel like a community.

The team of Sophie Alston-Forrester, Daisy Wall, Sophia Magari, and the Chairperson of the Debate, Amelia Stuchbury did themselves and the school proud. The girls were rewarded with Headteacher commendation badges this morning. Well done to you all.
