Teachers across school share new teaching ideas and classroom practice

art3

This week all teachers in school opened up their classroom doors to promote, share and observe each other and their teaching.

Throughout the past few months, the Teaching and Learning team have been training staff on delivering great lessons using the Accelerated Learning methodology which uses ways of CONNECTING, ACTIVATING, DEMONSTRATING AND CONSOLIDATING learning across a lesson. Staff have planned their lessons with a key focus of getting our students to THINK DEEPLY, set challenging tasks which stretch current skills and understanding and to try out new ways of delivering course content at range of different levels to support all students.

The students fed back that they have experienced a range of active learning strategies and have noticed fresh ideas being used in supporting their learning. Classroom layouts have been changed, clearly identified learning outcomes are consistently displayed and more opportunities have been created for students to really think and solve problems.

The Teaching and Learning team visited a wide range of lessons and took photographs of what they saw, which can be seen below. It has been great to see students and staff enjoying new types of lessons and it is the school's intention to further embed this culture of sharing each others lessons as regular practice in the future.
