Students Meet Olympic Legends!

IMG 9163

Just before the Easter holiday, the school took a group of Year 9 students to the Velodrome to take part in some outdoor mountain bike trails and to visit the UK National Cycling Centre.

They all had a fantastic time completing the trails and visiting the Velodrome and BMX arena.  Whilst on the visit, they bumped into Laura and Jason Kenny!  They were all very excited as both Great Britain cyclists are a huge inspiration.  Laura is the most successful female track cyclist in Olympic history and Great Britain's most successful Olympic female competitor in any sport.  Jason Kenny is from our town, Bolton and is the joint holder of the highest number of Olympic gold medals for a British athlete alongside track fellow Sir Chris Hoy.  Both Laura and Jason have won numerous gold medals for Great Britain and to see them was really motivating to all the students, so much that a number of them wish to pursue a cycling career.

Not only was this a fantastic day and experience, but great memories for our students!
