The Languages Department Madrid trip headed off on Sunday for a three day adventure, with a focus on developing students' language skills and expanding their cultural knowledge.

The group of linguists arrived in Madrid on Sunday afternoon and, after they settled in, they had a relaxing time in el Retiro Park before having tea in the Spanish restaurant of the hotel.

The next day, students discovered the history of the Spanish Civil War with the visit of the Reina Sofía Museum, where they could observe Picasso's most famous painting, The Guernica. After having lunch next to the Botanic Garden, they explored the Bernabeu Stadium, where they could see all the trophies won by Real Madrid, its changing rooms and try the players' seats. After the visit to the stadium, they had time to go shopping around Puerta del Sol and have a drink in one of the most famous squares in Madrid, the Plaza Mayor.

On Tuesday, students tasted the typical Spanish "churros" with hot chocolate in San Miguel Market and then they visited the luxurious rooms of the Royal Palace. Afterwards, they spent the rest of the day in the theme park, enjoying many rides, until the tea time.

Our linguists arrived back in Little Lever on Wednesday at lunch time. They were a credit to the school and conducted themselves impeccably. They were fantastic!
