The school has yet more Performing arts success to report. You may remember Lucy Doyle, one of our year 8 pupils, who in 2016 secured the role of Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird at the Bolton Octagon. After an incredibly successful run where she received fantastic reviews, she was nominated for a Manchester theatre award. These awards are described as the largest and most significant theatre awards in the UK outside London and are judged by a group of North West based theatre critics.

Lucy attended the award ceremony at Manchester’s HOME theatre on Friday 17th March and picked up the award for best young newcomer. Other winners on the night included famous names such as; Rufus Hound and Julie Hesmondalgh.

The school are incredibly proud of Lucy’s achievements Mr Tuff, the schools drama teacher stated, "Lucy really is a phenomenal talent, she’s shown us what she can do now and I’m so happy that she’s received some recognition for her fantastic portrayal of Scout. I think she’s definitely one to watch for the future if she carries on like this. For her to be picking up awards, especially something as prestigious as this so early in her career really is a truly remarkable achievement and something that’s made me and school very proud of Lucy."

Lucy’s aim now is to gain some acting representation and pursue her dream of becoming a professional actress.
