As a school we are always striving to raise and support the aspirations of our young people. We have recently invested in an exciting new educational resource (Start) which will help your child explore their future career and education options. ‘Start’ is accessible at any time on a PC and compatible mobile and tablet devices and it is designed to enable young people to make informed choices about their futures.

We would therefore like your child to register with the Start platform at home. A guide on how to register and complete the sections required can be found on the reverse of the letter sent out to all parents/carers. All students will be given guidance on the Start platform in an assembly and further guidance can be found on our website, Facebook pages and at www.startprofile.com.

All new users will need to register in order to create an account the first time they use the platform (see step by step instructions on how to do this). When learners log in they will be able to explore the site or take a tour.

Your child will need to personalise their profile with details about their skills, qualities, interests and work preferences. The system will then generate job suggestions matched to their individual strengths and interests. They will then be able to map an educational pathway to their dream career and see live job and apprenticeship vacancies.

Young people often find it difficult to categorise their strengths; any support you are able to provide would therefore be very beneficial; encourage your child to rate jobs, qualifications and destinations so that their teachers can see their preferences in order to support them further.

In addition to discussing job ideas and education routes with your child, please feel free to explore the site yourself. We would, however, ask you not to log in using your child's user details and to instead register yourself using the same steps outlined below, choosing parent instead of student and creating your own username and password.

We would like your child to complete the sections by Wednesday 19th July.  If your child does not have access to the internet, PC or mobile device at home, they can complete their registration and relevant sections in school using the facilities provided at homework club.
