On Saturday 10th February twenty students from Year 9 and Year 10 graduated from the Scholars Programme. The day was celebrated at the University of Manchester, the second university visit for the students that have engaged in the nationwide programme since October. Parents and staff, along with the pupils, attended to celebrate the massive achievements made by these pupils. The students have graduated with either a 2:2, 2:1 or a 1st from two literature programmes where they studied the thesis of a Phd student and completed an assignment on the research.

The students have had a unique and vast insight into Higher education. They have engaged with frequent  in-school tutorials with the Phd students and built on their writing, research and evaluation skills to complete their own 2000 word assignment which supports their GCSE English skills.

Both tutors were extremely complimentary of our students. They spoke at the ceromony and stated that the students that engaged with the programme were inspirational, enthusiastic, innovative and an absolute pleasure to work with.

Beth Holden (Year 10) spoke at the ceremony, "I have learnt so much from this experience and I believe it will be a massive stepping stone for us for when we leave school and look towards studying A levels and attending University. Thank you to my inspirational and motivational tutors and thank you for the opportunity to be involved in such a great experience."
