Year 9 student Aqsa Imtiaz received a very special package in school this morning from Buckingham Palace. In recognition for being the first student to complete the Bronze stage of the Duke of York Inspiring Digital Enterprise scheme, Aqsa has been sent a note and certificate from the palace.

The scheme is being taught in computing lessons, but there is also an extensive home study aspect to the programme.

The Duke of Edinburgh award is a programme that helps students develop digital and enterprise skills. Through a series of online challenges and events, students can win career-enhancing badges, unlock new opportunities and, ultimately, gain industry recognised awards that help them stand out from the crowd.

The school is very proud of Aqsa’s efforts in receiving this award, and to celebrate this achievement Aqsa was also presented with the Headteacher’s Award from Mr Mckeon. Aqsa will be ‘officially’ presented with her certificate in the Year 9 assembly this week.
