Rainbow fizz - creating a pH scale in a test tube

The science department have been producing some exciting lessons in chemistry this week.

Pupils used the reactions between an acid (H+) and an alkali (OH-) to create a pH scale in a test tube. They used something called an indicator to do this. An indicator is a dye that changes colour depending on whether it’s above or below a certain pH. Pupils slowly and carefully reacted an acid with an alkalis to show the full range of pH values. They then made detailed observations about the reactions that occurred.

Please view the photos attached to see their results.
