Two of our talented Year 10s Matthew Howells and Abigail Earnshaw have been working with the Bolton Octagon in their academy from January, writing, directing and performing a new piece of theatre called 'On Song Bird’s Wings'.

The show is touring around 14 different locations in the North West including Bolton Octagon and Saint Catherine’s Academy.  The play is aimed at young people trying to explain to them the importance of family and sticking together through thick and thin.

The story centres on a character named Robin who lives with sister. Her sister meets and becomes romantically involved with Marcus a young man who brings with him trouble. The story follows how Marcus spoils Robin and her sisters lives together and Robin through the use of music and always believing in her sister overcomes this.

Matthew and Abigail who are both studying GCSE Drama have aided in writing the script and have both taken roles within the production. Mr Tuff Little Lever School’s drama teacher said. ‘Having read the script and knowing how talented Abigail and Matthew I’m sure that this is going to be a great success and will just fill Abigail and Matthew with more confidence and help them go further in their aspirations to become performers. I wish them all the best with it.’
