DRAMA Year 10 Must-Do Task

Over the summer holidays all Year 10 students moving into Year 11 are expected to complete the Must-Do Tasks set by each subject area.

Students must bring their completed work on the first week back after the summer holidays for their teachers to mark.

The work is designed to support their learning and ensure they stay on track and fully prepared for their busy Year 11 GCSE year.

Please find below the Drama Must-Do Task (this can also be found on the 24/7 learning platform and on the school's Facebook news feed);

Students were given packs with scripts to learn and rehearse before leaving for the summer holiday.

In the first week in November you will do a performance for an external examiner worth 20% of your final GCSE. There will be no chances to re-do this assessment and it will all depend on how you perform on the day. Miss Higgins and I have spent a long time searching for extracts that suit you and therefore will aid you in getting the highest grade possible for this assessment. Therefore it’s incredibly important you know these extracts inside out. Also because the majority of you are working in pairs or groups if you don’t learn lines/ turn up for rehearsals you’re not only jeopardising your own GCSE but also the people in your group.

In your pack you will find.

  • A Highlighter
  • Your play script
  • A worksheet with questions regarding your character and the play.

Your tasks are as follows:

  1. Highlight your lines in the two extracts from the play you will be performing.
  2. Read the play as a whole- take care to think about the play-write’s intentions and any possible themes. Also think about your characters super-objective for the play. Answer the worksheet.

Learn the lines from the extract and begin to think about the best ways of staging the extracts and ideas for blocking.
