On Thursday 28th March the school welcomed Altru Drama, a creative, non-profit organisation who use drama as a tool to deliver messages, explore issues and develop skills, to deliver a performance to our year 7 and 8 students along with our mental health ambassadors.

The performance was developed to address some of the issues surrounding mental health, including:

  • The importance of not keeping concerns to ourselves
  • The importance of ‘being a good friend’
  • How social media can negatively affect our self-perception
  • The difference between ‘feeling anxious’ and ‘anxiety’
  • Body image
  • Suicide

Altru Drama and its charity partner ‘State of Mind’ worked together to develop the script and performance. ‘State of Mind’ is a charity that raises awareness of the issues surrounding mental health and well-being, delivering education to all levels of sport, business, education and community groups. Altru Drama works exclusively with young people and ensures that all topics are treated in a sensitive and age-appropriate manner.

The performance was moving, powerful, enlightening and real. All the students were fully engaged throughout the performance and the feedback from our visitors was outstanding.  We would like to thank Altru Drama and their charity partner ‘State of Mind ’for their brilliant performance today.

If you have any questions or concerns relating to the performance, please do not hesitate to contact the school and we will ensure that your child is supported.
